*FYI: This blog post is completely off topic & has nothing to do with fashion & accessories!*
Since I recently moved back as of August to my hometown, I thought I would do a blog post dedicated to my favorite city, Cincinnati! As boring as people say it is, Cincinnati is a pretty innovative city, one of the most innovative cities in the world!
It boasts one of the highest rates of patent applications in the country and here are just a few things that were invented right here in the good 'ol Nati:
- The Uno Card Game
- The Swiffer
- The Heimlich Maneuver
- Benadryl
- The Iron Lung
- The first ambulance service
- Ivory Soap
- Pringles
- The Gas Mask
- and the 3 light traffic signal....
Plus I'm here now too, so that has to count for something. JUST KIDDING!
What inspired me to write this post was an OLD OLD email I came across titled 'You know you are from Cincinnati if...." Here it is:
You know you are from Cincinnati if:
- You know the 1st pro baseball team was the Cincinnati RedStockings(1869).
- There is no such thing as a soft drink or soda, it's POP!
- You (or your kids) played KNOTHOLE ball not LITTLE LEAGUE.
- You know Norwood, OH is the only city that is completely surrounded by another City.
- You can ask for a beer & it is brewed in Cincinnati.
- You know that the Cincinnati airport isn't even in OHIO and that the airport symbol (CVG) stands for Covington, KY!
- Christmas wasn't compete until you s aw the miniature trains downtown.
- You learned that Cincy had the 1st full-time paid firefighters back in 1853.
- You don't say yall... EVER. You say, "you guys", and that includes the women too.
- You know that Kahn's = "the wiener the world awaited".
- You were informed (maybe by a grandparent) that in 1853 the Cincinnati Fire Department became the first full-time paid professional fire department in the country.
- You remember the Cincinnati Reds playing at Crosley Field & Riverfront Stadium.
- You remember shopping "downtown" at Shillitos, Pogues, and McAlpins instead of Macys & Dillards "at the mall."
- You know pigs do fly in Cincinnati, as can be see by four majestic winged pigs at a riverfront park in Cincinnati (formerly "Porkopolis").
- You spend every weekend in SEPTEMBER going to a different OKTOBERFEST!
- You remember when the Bengals last went to the Superbowl that gas was $1.09 /gal.
- You have friends and neighbors with names like Guckenberger,Hirlinger,
Schottlekotte, Schraffenberger, Schoenling & other names that can relate to "Vas you ever in Zinzinnati"? - You plan your summer weekends around the local parish festivals.
- You think the only tri-state area in the US is: Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana.
- Aduring a taste test you can tell the difference between the following chilis:
> Skyline
> Cincinnati Recipe
> Empress
> Gold Star
> Camp Washington
> Worthmore - You know how to spell our city and it's not:
> Cincinati
> cincinatti
> Cincinnatti
> Cinninati
> (for other versions check out ebay!) - You "Warsh" your clothes!
- You take a leisurely summer drive through a suburban neighborhood & you see many cornhole games being played!
- You add an "s" to the end of grocery store names, such as Kroger(s), Meijer(s).
- You can buy beer by driving into a drive-through pole-barn.
- You refer to the animal shelter/dog pound as "the SPCA", much to the bewilderment of non-Cincinnatians of this independent, non-government organization.
- You believe LaRosa's is fine Italian dining and carry a "Buddy Card".
- You remind people that Pompilios was in the movie Rainman.
- Your convenient store sounds like a labor union (United Dairy Farmers).
- You believe that Pete Rose should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame & you miss Marge Schott
- Your favorite Coney Island (SKYLINE CHILI!) isn't in New York.
- You know what brats and metts (i.e QUEEN CITY SAUSAGE) are, and you've
probably tasted goetta (GLIER'S!!)
And last but not least, I will add my own input to the list: You can not live without a 3- way at least once a week and I thank everyone who sent me canned Cincinnati Chili all the years I was away! (picture of 3 way below)

On that note, I am off to get some chili on this cold winter day! See you tomorrow for a GREAT post for 'Fashionably Friday'!

OMG LOL! To funny!
