So these past few weeks I have been on a mission to try and condense my office down to half the size. This is what it looked like in the process:
Needless to say, it wasn't working.
It also doesn't help that it has been in the 90's almost everyday and when you have a lot of bright lights, combined with no vents to let the air out, it gets miserably hot. Even with a portable a/c unit and central air.
It's been tough to work lately, a combination of morning sickness that comes just about anytime of the day and the heat upstairs made me decide to move my office temporarily to the basement, in our 'Savannah, Georgia' themed room. It is so much cooler and an added bonus: I get to see pretty pictures of Savannah all day long!
Granted, I still have to go upstairs from time to time, but at least I can arrange to do what I need to do up there early in the morning when it isn't so brutally hot or until we figure out a good solution to the sauna problem we have on our hands!

Megan: I know what it's like to go through a stifling hot summer while pregnant. At least in this era there are air conditioners. When I was pregnant there were no such things, just fans. But take care of yourself and don't get heat exhaustion or worst, heat stroke. You need to keep yourself healthy and COOL! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with moving things around. My house does not have air conditioning so I completely understand with the exception of being pregnant. Like Lynn says, take care of yourself! I love the paint color in the office downstairs.
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion:
ReplyDeletetry to make the single office into 2 separate spaces, like when a bedroom also has a sitting area? You can even paint the different areas 2 separate complimantary colors! Maybe use a separator, such as a open-backed book case, or a screen, and hang your photos/diplomas in separate areas as not to have a "shot-gun" look in the room. Also, hanginag a floor-to-ceiling rod in between and a light cotton "curtain" as a separator would look neat, as u can keep it open, but it will still give a 2 rooms effect! (i love to decorate and create unusual spaces)
Here's to creating! And again. congrats!!!
Oh, a "curtain" would look great hanging across the top of the stairs, and left gently pulled back! I would LOVE to shoot some pregnancy photos of you!!!! If your up for it, give me a holler. I always need free models ;) Something tasteful of course ;)
Thanks ladies! We finally decided on a plan to add walls but also kind of have an open feel. Blog posts with pictures will be up next week :)
ReplyDeleteGreat advice!!
