raccoon distractions & handmade cards

What's up with the title of this blog post? It was my day yesterday. I had every intention of sitting down to blog last night when I heard  Adobe (our german shepard/husky home alarm system) barking like crazy in the garage, which is fairly uncommon. When we went down to check whats going on, there it was. A raccoon just hanging out in the corner of our garage. Not sure what to do, we brought Adobe in while John attempted to get the stubborn thing out of our garage.
To make a long story short & a few hours later, we had to call the neighbor to help John get the raccoon out. There was no way I could be of any help, not to mention there is 4 inches of snow on the ground with temps in the low 20's. Luckily they were able to trap him into an unused trash can and they carried him out to the woods near our house to set him free.
On another note, since we were snowed in, it gave me the opportunity to finish working on the thank you cards I was making & write to everyone who so kindly has given us a baby gift.
John created the owl image to use in Myles' room, which I then took and added to the thank you cards, printed them out & used distressing ink on the edges.
Hopefully today can be another creative & productive day, I have a chair cushion to make for the rocker in the nursery and a few things to paint!

  2. I love the title of this post. Your racoon story was funny - and a little scary! I'm glad John was able to diffuse the situation. Good luck with the rest of your projects: the owl cards are adorable (but then, who doesn't love owls?).

  3. Surprisingly the raccoon was pretty tame, which makes me think maybe it was sick :( I hear they fight back and can leap at you!
