3rd time is the charm for MEWfashion!

Since I started MEWfashion, back in September 07, the company has been ever changing and evolving. Like I had mentioned in a previous post, I first wanted to focus on just accessories and then I threw in fashion illustration because I absolutely love to draw croquies (those long legged ladies designers draw to show an outfit) see below:

Anyhow, I soon learned that even though the two categories are in the same field, they were really different in the sense that I would have different customers and clients for each area and it just got to be frustrating. So I decided instead of doing fashion illustration as a business I could just do it as a hobby and continue on making accessories.

With that in mind, I had to make a few changes on my website and to make a long story short, I have just launched the 3rd version of my site!
Here are some of the new features of the new MEWfashion:

New branding and logos:
I was working on a project for Barnes & Noble when I created the pink dress form that is now the new logo of MEWfashion. The dress form itself represents the fashion design and the white necklaces around the neck of the dress form represent the accessory design of the company.

You don't have to create an account to buy something!
Before I had the website where you had to create an account to purchase something. The advantage of this feature would be that the site would remember your information, so you wouldn't have to type in your shipping address every time you purchased something, you could save your shopping cart, view previous orders and sign up for the newsletter. I thought this was a fantastic idea, but my sales all but stopped. I couldn't figure it out until I went over to Jen of Naughty Secretary Club's blog and she had mentioned having the same problem.
Here is what Jennifer had to say about accounts and logging in:
"When I had my new website built this was the kiss of death. My sales all but stopped and some of that was people just getting used to the new site but I also think a big part of it was people don’t want to feel like they are signing up for an account. The minute I had this feature taken off my website where you could make a purchase without having to log in, create a password, enter in a bunch of random personal information sales picked up."

Simple Newsletter Sign Up:
I made it easier than ever to sign up for the newsletter that will come out quarterly.
Right smack dab on the homepage of the website, there is a little box that you type your email address in and voila, you're in. And of course, you never have to worry about your information being shared. MEWfashion operates on a high code of ethics.
'Newest Products' displayed on the front page:
You will never have to worry about searching for the newest products that are added weekly, because they are all there right in front of you when you visit the site.

Continual Updates:This is my full time job now, so I will being going full force..meaning, YES, the blog will be kept up to date, new products will be added weekly and trunk shows will be happening!
