So... the last time I even mentioned making a wedding dress on my blog was in May, and at the end of my post, my famous last words were: "I am going to start making the dress in the next month or sometime around there...Keep you posted on the details!"
Since May, I went to Cincinnati twice to look at houses, took a vacation to Savannah, GA and my husband and I bought a house and we moved here to Cincinnati 3 weeks prior to the wedding which was 2 days ago. I didn't have a chance to work on the dress until I moved here, so I ended up working everyday on the dress for 12 days straight. Click here to see the previous blog post about the concept, ideas we had and sketches.
This is probably going to be my longest blog post yet, but I will take you on my wedding dress making endeavors for all that requested to see pictures of the process and the final dress.
First things first, when Alyssa (the bride) came to Austin, TX to start working on the dress, we had a lot to cover including trend shopping, trying on different styles of dresses, picking out fabric and most importantly, coming up with the design of the dress.
Above: Pictures of different dress styles Alyssa tried on to get ideas of what she liked.
Above: Fabric selections
Above: Final design renderings I created to help me create the patterns.
Even with all those major first steps were completed in May, I still wasn't able to start on the dress until mid-August. Thankfully, it all worked out wonderfully!
Below is a picture of the bottom portion of the dress, with all the layers not yet sewn together.

With the bottom half completed, including the 'tiny' corset, I was then starting on completing the top portion of the dress and had Alyssa try the dress on for one final fitting before her big day!

After 60 hours or so, (I stopped counting at 60) the dress was completed! Below are some pictures of the wedding day with Andrea assisting me with putting on the dress.
My FAVORITE picture of all, Alyssa in her dress..and me, at the wedding.
P.S. I forgot to mention I made all the jewelry for the bridesmaids, I loved it!

Oh, Megan, her dress is absolutely breathtaking. You did an amazing job on it, especially within the time crunch you were working under. Congratulations on doing a beautiful job.
