Organizing thousands of beads: A project that I started when living in Texas that I just now took the time to finish, it was a daunting one! For the longest time, I just had all my beads in little clear plastic containers with dividers, but after I had over 15 of those little clear containers, I needed a new organization system. So I went to Home Depot, Lowes, The Container Store and a few others before I finally found the perfect stack able organizers in the hardware section at Walmart, for a mere $9.88 a piece!
So here I am, spread out on the floor, sorting through all my many different types of beads.
I know what your thinking, geeeez... what a lot of beads!
So not only did I take out every little individual compartment to sort, I also labeled each individual compartment by what type of bead was what, color, shape, texture, size, etc.
The end result...... (drum roll please!) :
All my beads in one place, on one table, nicely labeled with all of my chain hanging on a little 'chain rack' I made. All I did was take a random small board I found in the garage, spray painted it in a shimmery color which is similar to the wall color in my studio, and hammered in about 20 small nails then nailed the board to the wall. Easy easy!
Any other ideas on good bead organization? I know there are a lot of jewelry makers out there!
That's amazing! My collection is almost as big as yours but I found a bead organization kit at walmart, it has 5 containers and a bag that holds the containers and tools in 6 large pockets. mine was 20$
ReplyDeleteSarah, nice! I think I may know what you are talking about. But for $20, you can't beat that. Send a pic if you can because I'd like to do a another post on organizing beads at some point. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea but in 2022 these things cost a fortune. I keep looking for a good deal tho. 😊
ReplyDeleteI use these 2. And also labeled each! I found the divider dimensions and made some..so able to have 2 per drawer.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to harbor freight, they have the organizers for $19 and use your 15% of coupon :)
